Employment Opportunity: Seeking Drupal Developers (Ninjas) and Themers
Drupal Careers.
April 13, 2009 - Jordan Willms
Hey ya'll. We are growing and we love Drupal. We are hiring peeps with Drupal skills (developers or themers).
Who are we?
We are Work at Play, a small 25 or so person company leading some of the most innovative projects in social media. We work with clients like Viacom/MTV/Brash Entertainment/NBC to make the web a better and more interesting place.
What do we need?
We are in need of some Drupal Development Ninjas and Themers. You know who you are. You contribute to Drupal or are very active on Drupal.org. You have contributed or have maintained Drupal modules (or you want too). You can cite all the differences between 5.x and 6.x. You fantasize about 7.x deployed on production. You know the LAMP stack up and down. You dream in PHP. You whip MySQL into shape and make it jump through hoops. You think of your brain as a memcache layer. You dabble in Rails and Python, just 'cause you're curious.
Here is a little more detail of what you have:
- A computer science degree (or equivalent) with experience and working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming concepts, PHP, W3C Web Standards, XHMTL, XML-RPC, CVS/SVN, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL.
- You are aware of the abilities and limitations of web related technologies like Flash, Flex, Javascript, Silverlight, etc
- 1 to 2 Years of Experience with Drupal (No exceptions here folks!)
- Experience with JQuery for some browser magic
- A solid work ethic and a wicked attitude towards work. You are creative, you like to have fun with your work, and you take pride in co-creating engaging web experiences that we can all be proud of.
- Knowledge of Social Media is a must. You've read books like Groundswell and Wikinomics and you understand that we are in a world beyond 2D web pages. It is no longer about clicks and page views. You are on (or are fluent with Twitter, Friendfeed, Facebook, and work your network on LinkedIn. You may even be an active blogger.
- You realize that documentation and best practices are a necessary evil to producing quality results for us and for clients. As such, you approach documentation responsibilities with relentless enthusiasm. LOL.
- You are a self starter and very motivated. You don't need constant direction and supervision. That being said: You still follow instructions :)
Here is a little detail about what you'll do:
- Be involved in the end to end process of creating engaging web destinations. You'll be involved in proposals, project planning, building and the testing of applications.
- Contribute to our various products and components like our Audience Experience Platform (A social media platform)
- Attend technical conferences: Either as a contributor/presenter, or as an attendee.
Where are we?
We are based in the heart of Railtown in a trendy collaborative loft with bricks and wooden beams. We work hard, but we play hard too: We've got a Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, two giant big screens and a foozeball table. We also work everyday to a "controlled by the people" sound system where each employee queues up music to listen to. We offer full benefits better than most Fortune 500 companies. Our compensation plan includes bonuses, etc.
How does one apply?
Slap together a fresh copy of your resume and a cover letter indicating why you might be right for our team. Free espresso with every interview :) Send it to mandy.eagles [at] workatplay.com with the subject: "I AM A NINJA".
